Bitcoin Core Patches Hidden CVE After 16-Month Silent Fix

The Bitcoin Core team just disclosed CVE-2024–52911, a high-severity memory bug that affected versions 0.14.0 through 28.x.

The flaw could have allowed malicious miners to crash third-party nodes by crafting invalid blocks. Bitcoin Core developers quietly patched the issue in December 2024, but deliberately titled the fix “Improve parallel script validation error debug logging” to avoid tipping off attackers.

The patch shipped with version 29.0 in April 2025, and public disclosure only happened after the vulnerable 28.x line reached end-of-life on April 19, 2026.

The covert approach protected the network while users upgraded, but it also left older nodes exposed for more than a year.

If you’re still running anything before v29.0, update now.

Toncoin Surges 94% as Durov Takes Direct Control

Toncoin posted a 94.6% gain over seven days, hitting $2.59 to $2.90 by May 7, its highest level since September 2025.

The surge was triggered by Telegram and founder Pavel Durov stepping in to take a direct leadership role in TON development, replacing the TON Foundation’s community-led model.

Trading volume exploded 650% as high-conviction capital flowed in. The shift from distributed governance to founder-led execution significantly de-risked the project, and markets responded immediately. Some sources report TON climbed as high as 120% within weeks before cooling slightly.

Either way, it was the single most dramatic move among top-100 crypto assets in early May.

XRP ETFs Cross $1.32 Billion in Cumulative Inflows

XRP ETFs recorded $25.8 million in net inflows on May 11, the largest single-day total since January 5, when flows hit $46.1 million.

That’s more than just one good day. Cumulative XRP ETF inflows have now crossed $1.32 billion.

The five U.S.-listed spot XRP funds now manage approximately $1 billion in total assets under management, with 847.9 million XRP tokens locked in custody as of May 12.

The renewed interest lines up with technical breakouts and ongoing regulatory momentum around the CLARITY Act. XRP price is currently testing key resistance around $1.50, and if ETF demand continues, we could see sustained upward pressure.

Bitcoin ETFs Pull $2.7B in Nine Straight Days

Bitcoin ETFs logged nine consecutive days of net inflows totaling $2.7 billion through early May, with May 1 alone pulling in $629 million, the strongest single-day inflow in months.

April 2026 closed as the strongest monthly net total of the year.

BlackRock’s IBIT and Fidelity’s FBTC led the charge, and cumulative spot Bitcoin ETF inflows have now surpassed $58 billion since launch, with total net assets above $100 billion.

Bitcoin opened at $81,664 on May 12, its strongest start since January, and is currently testing $82,000 to $84,000 resistance. If the ETF momentum holds, a breakout above $84K looks increasingly likely.

MegaETH Launches First MEGA Buyback, Funded by Stablecoin Revenue

MegaETH activated its first MEGA token buyback program on May 7, funded entirely by net revenue from its USDm stablecoin.

The buyback uses Treasury-backed yield to create a standing bid for MEGA tokens, turning stablecoin revenue directly into token support.

Current USDm supply sits at $480 million, and future buyback amounts will scale with stablecoin demand and reserve yields.

It’s a clean value loop: more USDm adoption means more buyback pressure, which strengthens MEGA’s token economy. For a project positioning itself as a “real-time Ethereum” challenger, linking native token value to stablecoin revenue is a smart long-term play.

The Bottom Line: Privacy & Self-Custody

Privacy and self-custody remain the core themes.

Every CEX that promised “full reserves” followed the same playbook: promise transparency, delay audits, surprise insolvency.

Not your keys, not your crypto.

Whether you’re swapping through a CEX or an aggregator, make sure you understand the custody model.

BobaCatSwap supports 1000+ assets with fast, secure, and private swaps. No account, no KYC, just you and your keys.
