This Week in Crypto: June 24 — July 1, 2026
Crypto markets adopted a defensive stance this week as Bitcoin ETF outflows accelerated sharply, pushing the leading asset toward key technical support near $100,000.
Bitcoin ETFs Face Historic Redemptions
Bitcoin spot ETFs posted roughly $1.79 billion in net outflows between June 22 and 26, according to SoSoValue data. This marked the third-worst weekly performance on record and extended a seven-week streak of redemptions that has now surpassed $7.7 billion.
The scale of selling reflects institutional profit-taking and short-term caution following months of strong inflows earlier in the year.
Ethereum and Solana ETFs Follow Suit
Ethereum ETFs followed a similar path, shedding approximately $200 million over the same five-day period. Solana spot ETFs recorded zero inflows, underscoring the broad risk-off tone across major digital assets.
Solana Stands Out
Solana nevertheless demonstrated relative strength. While most altcoins declined, SOL posted modest gains over the past seven days, supported by robust on-chain activity and continued developer momentum that sets it apart from the wider market.
DeFi Under Pressure
DeFi tokens faced particular pressure this week. Lingering security concerns and the after-effects of recent protocol incidents have dampened appetite for high-yield strategies, prompting traders to favor more liquid, established assets during the downturn.
What to Watch
The coming weeks will reveal whether these outflows represent a healthy consolidation or the start of a more prolonged correction. In either scenario, the ability to move assets efficiently and privately across chains remains a core requirement for participants navigating this environment.
